Is heavy resistance training specifically for men?
Absolutely not. It’s a complete myth that bodybuilding and heavy resistance training will make you gain “too much muscle” if you’re a woman. Naturally, if gaining a lot of lean muscle is you’re objective, then this can be achieved, but if managed correctly, resistance training can reduce the risk of injury, increase your metabolism and reduce body fat. From squats to deadlifts, more women then ever are developing aspects of "bodybuilding" and incorporating it in to their own training programm.
is this just one of those beach body in 8 week scams?
Through experience, some of the quick fix programmes can yield fast results. In reality, the method of a following low calorie diet combined with throwing a few weights about is not really sustainable and in the vast majority of cases, it’s the loss of water that gives the perception of being more muscular than the actual building of muscle itself. Whatever your goal, we will give realistic professional advice to get you in the best healthy shape possible for whatever occasion.
i'm new to resistance training and not sure where to start?
At Omega Health and Performance we work with people of all ages, abilities and requirements. If you're a novice to the gym it can be quite daunting, but don't worry, we work in a friendly none-judgemental environment and champion a sociable atmosphere. We want people to succeed and pride ourselves on making our clients feel comfortable. We will evaluate your personal objectives and set out a detailed plan on how you can achieve your goals. Commitment and dedication is required, but we will start at a level which is comfortable to your own specific level of knowledge and training ability.
do you cater for clients with more experience?
Sure! We have tailored specific resistance training programmes for advanced clients ranging from women that compete in physique contests to Olympic competitors. We have a lot of clients that compete nationally in different sporting events, so our knowledge and variation of training techniques has to be very varied. For anyone wanting to take their training to the next level or even compete in a bodybuilding show, as part of our muscle building programme, we also offer specific packages focusing on improving conditioning, symmetry and muscularity.
